I met Judy one day when I was shopping in a grocery store in Oregon. Her face captivated me. Her sweet smile and lined face told me that she had seen a lot in her life and that she was comfortable with herself. My question was – why was she working in the grocery? I think that she was there because she loved people, but maybe her means needed to be supplemented as well.

I was able to capture her using 86 different colors of thread. I love creating portraits of the elderly. Her wrinkles tell a story that is a joy to replicate in my art.
